Spring in to Home Landscaping

Spring has sprung!  is the perfect time to refresh your home’s landscaping and plant pops of color that not only boosts your home’s curb appeal, but also makes your home more livable and lush. Here are a few ways to get your yard looking great for spring.

Plan Before You Plant
Before you purchase and plant, make sure you sketch out your landscape design to visualize the placement of flowers, trees, and hardscaping. It is important to research your prospective plants and consider the sunlight, drainage, and wind exposure for each area for selecting the right ones for each space.

Refresh Your Lawn
Rake up leaves and debris to help grass grow. Aerate the soil to allow nutrients and water to reach the roots. Reseed bare patches and apply a spring fertilizer for lush growth.

Add Pops of Color With Flowers and Plants
Choose early bloomers like tulips, and daffodils to send your landscaping into bloom. Mix perennials (long-term) and annuals (one season) into your flower beds for variety. Incorporate native plants into your design to help with sustainability.

Prune and Trim
Trim dead branches from trees and shrubs to encourage healthy growth. Cut back ornamental grasses and perennials to make room for new growth.

Mulch & Edge Your Beds
A fresh layer of mulch helps retain moisture and prevents weeds. Plus it looks and smells so nice. Define flower beds with edging for a neat and polished look. This also keeps your nearby lawn out of your flowerbeds and keeps the new mulch in place.

Add Hardscape Features
Adorn your backyard with a new walkway, patio, or garden border for structure. Use decorative stones, pavers, water features or gravel to enhance design.

Install Outdoor Lighting
Use solar lights along walkways or garden beds for ambiance. Highlight trees or focal points with spotlights. Draped outdoor lights are also a top trending tool homeowners use to illuminate.

Create an Outdoor Living Space
Build an entertaining patio complete with new furniture, a fire pit, or an outdoor kitchen. Add street lamps, pergolas or trellises for shade and style.

Stay on Top of Maintenance
You have this gorgeous, beautifully landscaped space. What’s next? Maintenance. Make sure you regularly water plants in the morning to prevent disease. Pull weeds before they spread. Keep up with mowing and trimming for a clean look.
