Our Building Process & The Benefits of a Custom Home

Building a custom home is a meaningful process that brings about the ultimate goal of creating a place that you and your family can call home. At Paul Gray Homes, we are here to make the home building process as smooth as possible — before, during and after construction! When you work with our team, you can expect transparency and open communication from start to finish. Knowing the steps that go into building your new home can help make the custom home building process run smoothly, while giving you peace of mind.

Here are Paul Gray Homes’ 10 Steps to Building a New Home

1. Meet With Paul Gray Homes

Once you have decided to build a new home, the first step is to meet with our team. It is important to bring a folder of design ideas, a target price range for your new home, along with thoughts on the community or area of town where you would like to build. At this meeting, we will discuss so many things, including design necessities and your style!

2. Contract

A contract is written once your new home design, building plan and price sheet are finalized and approved by you.

3. Financing

Once your contract is complete, you will visit with your lender. Providing the contract to your lender, they will undergo the underwriting process, and once you have the commitment letter and appraisal, we are ready to proceed and can break ground on your new home.

4. Redline Meeting

This is the final meeting before construction begins.

5. Start Building Your New Home

Next, we’ll break ground on your new home and start building!

6. Rough-In Walkthrough

During this walkthrough meeting, we will discuss plumbing, electrical, and HVAC placements.

7. Trim Walkthrough

We will discuss shelving placement for closets and pantries and also verify design accents and detail items.

8. New Home Orientation

The New Home Orientation is where we show you all of the operational aspects of your new home. We also identify the remaining punch-list items that must be completed before closing.

9. Closing

Congratulations! It is time to close on your new home.

10. Warranty

Now that you own your home, you are backed by a 12-month home warranty on craftsmanship and quality. Paul Gray Homes stands behind our work, and we want to make sure you are as happy as the day you moved into your new home.
