Top Interior Design Trends of 2021

March 9, 2021

Home design trends are constantly changing and evolving. As we continue through 2021, Paul Gray Homes award-winning Interior Designer, Megan McGraw with McGraw Interior Design, shares the top interior design trends you can expect to see this year.

Black and white

Is still the top trend. An overall neutral palette punctuated with black adds lots of pizazz to a space. A few ways to add black accents is through faucets, lighting, hardware, tile and stone. Black kitchen cabinets or a black accent island is also a popular design choice.  White walls and white cabinetry are timeless as well.

Natural wood

Tones are really popular in cabinetry, flooring and furniture. Furniture in two-tone with white or black is also trending as well as furniture in natural maple or natural burl wood.

Pastel tones

Are not just for spring and summer anymore. Pops of pale green and blues are a subtle way to add color to a space.

Blue hues

Navy and indigo blues are still on trend. Whether in accessories or in accent furniture, blue adds a timeless pop of color to the home.

Natural woven materials

A top trend in 2021. Inspired by Raffia and Rattan? Items to consider purchasing for your home are Raffia and grass cloth wrapped furniture, woven wood furniture and window treatments.

Fabrics

Solid linen and boucle fabrics are trending in contemporary design. Ticking stripes and gingham fabrics are popular in traditional and transitional design.

Mid-century modern furniture

Is currently dominating contemporary design right now.

Light fixtures

THIN IS IN in the world of luxury lighting. Light fixtures feature very minimal with clean lines and noticeably thin. Statement fixtures were once popular in the past, but very slight frames are what’s hot in the world of interior design today.

Antique brass

A popular metal tone, but now is being used as more of a compliment instead of a statement in a home.

Natural stone and tile

A timeless touch in any home, especially in a matte finish that makes an impact.
