10 steps to build your new home

When you are ready to build your new home, Paul Gray Homes is here to walk you through every step of the home building process. From the first meeting, to closing day, we want to build your dream home and make your new home vision a reality. Our building process can help take a few of the questions out of the building process by helping your know what you can expect during new home construction.

1. Meet With Paul Gray Homes

At your first meeting it is important to have a target price range or budget for your new home, along with the location or area of town where you would like to build. Additionally, it is helpful to bring a folder of pictures and design ideas. At this meeting, we will discuss your new home needs, style and dreams.

We invite you to view our Initial Design Meeting video at PaulGrayHomes.com. Estimated meeting time: 1 to 2 hours. Estimated timeframe for new home design: 1 to 2 weeks.

2. Contract

Once your new home design, building plan and price sheet are finalized, the next step is to write a contract. Estimated Meeting time: 1 hour

3. Financing

Once your contract is complete, you will take the contract to your lender. Then your lender will undergo the underwriting process, produce a commitment letter, and order the appraisal. Once
all of these steps are completed, we are ready to move forward to break ground on your new home. Estimated time: 3-6 weeks (depending on lender).

4. Red Line & Selection Meeting

This is the final meeting before commencement of construction. Estimated meeting time: 1 to 2 hours.

5. Start Building your New Home

It is time to break ground on your new home. Estimated timeframe to Rough-In Walkthrough: 6 to 10 weeks

6. Rough-IN Walkthrough

During the Rough-In Walkthrough, we will discuss plumbing, electrical, and HVAC placements. Check out our Rough-In Walkthrough video on PaulGrayHomes.com.

Estimated meeting time: 1 to 2 hours.

7. Trim Walkthrough

During the Trim Walkthrough, we will discuss detail items such as closet shelving placement and fireplace designs. For more information, view our Trim Walkthrough video at PaulGrayHomes.com. Estimated meeting time: 30-60 minutes. Estimated time: 4-5 weeks after Rough-In Walkthrough

8. New Home Orientation

At the New Home Orientation, Paul Gray Homes will show you all of the operational aspects of your new home. At this meeting, we will also identify the remaining punchlist items that are to be completed before closing.

Estimated meeting time: 1 to 2 hours.

9. Closing

Congratulations! It is time to close on your new home. Estimated Closing Time: 1 hr.
